The Lady of the North- a Game of Thrones Inspired Outfit for LOTRO

The Dress and Circlet
The Lady of the North takes charge as regent... |
This was a very simple outfit to make as I couldn't really actually go too much in detail (not with the number of resources I have, and due to the rarity of outfits that resemble the actual costume itself). But even with such limited clothing choices, I have managed to keep it as sophisticated and as authentic to the real costume of Catelyn Stark in my perspective. Now the whole outfit is wholely dominated with a dark blue colour concept from top to bottom. For this, I used Catelyn Stark's formal costume which was also dark blue which represents her Tully heritage as she is the daughter of the Lord Paramount of the Riverlands, Hoster Tully. I was originally going to use Evendim or Ered Luin Blue, but I found that Steel Blue fits in quite well with the actual colour concept. I made her hair also more orange/auburn colour.
I used the Dress of Anorien Summer Autumn for this outfit because these are one of the only dresses in LOTRO that actually do down below the ankles of women characters and most ladies in Westeros have ankle's down dresses. This dress clearly suits a 'Lady' theme, similar to the gowns the wives of thanes in Rohan wear. It almost gives a barbaric look, with the fabric texture and the belts with circular ornaments which can symbolise the nature of House Stark descending from First Men which were a quite barbaric society.
(Bow down to the Lady of the North! Hahahaahahaha xD) |
It also gives a very nice 'cone' shaped lower side profile, which shows elegance and the poise of a lady plus foldings too, which almost looks like it has a petticoat as a foundation. It makes the character look for royal and bold. The sleeves of the dress also loosen in the wrist areas which is give a very nice look into it and makes it look medieval.
The Circlet makes her look more royal (although Catelyn did not wear a circlet.) The whole outfit is simple because The North is not a wealthy region therefore, there was no need to be all elegant and luxuriant with the main body and I tried to keep it this way.

The Cloak
The Lady of the North giving battle tactics for war.... Just like when Catelyn gave her opinion to her son Robb. |
This is where I get a bit out of concept with the true costume itself. Widely due to that fact that she only uses a plain cloak which had a dark blue dye into it. But as a fashionista, I couldn't use the Plain Cloak outfit in LOTRO because it's just too boring and dull in my opinion. But even though this cloak doesn't truly follow the costume, it still fits in quite well with the outfit. The glowing aura on it is one of the amazing features of the cloak which can represent the white snow of the North. The fine silver patterns on it also make it look astonishing and bright whilst still being simple.
The Shoulders
For the North! |
I tried the scarf with other colours such as Moria Silver and Grey, which also works well with the outfit if you want to represent more of her Stark heritage.
Other Features
The Lady watching ever so closely across the distance with a knife on her belt... Waiting for her husband and children to come back. |
The Lady's Direwolf companion.... |
